Position overview
The Chief Operating Officer is a senior executive who oversees the company’s everyday functioning, turns strategy into action, improves organizational efficiency, and helps steer long-term growth. This role sits on the executive leadership team and works closely with the CEO and Board of Directors to make sure operations are well coordinated, resources are used effectively, and business targets are met.
The position calls for strong executive leadership, deep operational knowledge, organizational design expertise, and a track record of managing complex businesses that are growing quickly.
Strategic execution
- Work alongside the CEO and senior leaders to shape and execute company strategy.
- Convert strategic priorities into clear operating plans and measurable business results.
- Track organizational performance to keep activities aligned with long-term objectives.
- Spot opportunities for expansion, process improvement, and revenue enhancement.
Operational leadership
- Direct and manage day-to-day operations across all business units.
- Create operational policies, procedures, and performance benchmarks.
- Lead initiatives that improve efficiency and strengthen continuous processes.
- Ensure teams and departments work together smoothly to raise productivity and effectiveness.
Organizational management
- Build, guide, and develop strong management teams.
- Create business structures and operating frameworks that can scale with growth.
- Promote a workplace culture centered on accountability, collaboration, innovation, and performance.
- Support employee development, leadership growth, and succession planning.
Financial and performance management
- Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight.
- Review KPIs and operational metrics regularly.
- Support profitability, cost control, and efficient resource allocation.
- Make sure operational choices contribute to long-term financial goals.
Risk management and compliance
- Set up and maintain strong internal controls and risk management practices.
- Ensure observance of legal, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements.
- Identify operational risks and put mitigation plans in place.
Stakeholder and partnership management
- Contribute to investor relations, strategic partnerships, and business development efforts.
- Represent the company in discussions with stakeholders, partners, and clients.
- Support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic growth initiatives.
Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related discipline is required. An MBA or similar advanced qualification is preferred.
The role calls for at least 20 years of professional experience, including 20 years in leadership and management roles. Prior experience as a COO, CEO, President, Managing Director, Executive Vice President, General Manager, or in a similar senior position is expected. A strong background in leading large-scale operations and cross-functional teams is important. Experience in fintech, financial services, technology, digital assets, cryptocurrency, or other fast-growing industries is highly desirable.
