Job description
Role overview
Fortis Alpha has been engaged by a private equity firm to hire a Chief Financial Officer for one of its portfolio companies, a MedTech distribution platform based in Dublin. This is a practical, high-impact CFO position with influence at ownership level, rather than a narrow reporting-only role.
Why this opportunity stands out
- Backed by private equity and supported by a clear expansion plan, with strong recent trading momentum.
- Direct access to the Managing Director and the PE ownership group, giving the role strong visibility and input at senior level.
- The business operates in healthcare distribution and benefits from long-standing exclusive OEM partnerships.
- The company is shifting from a founder-led setup into a more structured scale-up environment.
- The package includes meaningful equity participation in addition to base pay and bonus.
Core responsibilities
- Take full ownership of the finance function, including reporting, controls and process improvement as the company grows.
- Develop management information and KPI reporting to support better business decisions.
- Work closely with the Managing Director on commercial and strategic matters across the platform.
- Manage working capital, cash flow and cost control.
- Serve as the main finance contact for the private equity owner, including board-level reporting.
- Contribute to M&A activity, due diligence and post-deal integration as the platform expands.
Candidate profile
- Must be a qualified accountant, with ACA, ACCA or CIMA.
- Should bring prior experience as a CFO, Finance Director or in another senior finance leadership role, ideally within a PE-backed or fast-growing SME environment.
- Needs to be comfortable working hands-on in a founder-led business while also engaging with a private equity owner.
- Requires strong commercial judgement, not just technical accounting or reporting capability.
- Should be a confident communicator who can establish trust quickly with both the Managing Director and the ownership group.
