Job description
About the Employer and Role
Our client is a well-established organisation located in Geelong with a strong foothold in the market and an ambition for further expansion. The leadership team is focused on enhancing capabilities to support the company's next growth phase. Operating in a setting where balanced commercial judgement is essential, they are seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide leadership that goes beyond traditional financial reporting and control, offering a comprehensive business perspective to the executive team.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and collaborating closely with the Board and executive team, the CFO will be accountable for the company’s financial strategy, governance, and overall performance. This includes managing financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, both statutory and management reporting, cash flow oversight, risk management, compliance, and development of effective financial systems and controls. The role extends to translating financial data into commercial insights, validating assumptions, refining investment choices, and helping leaders grasp the operational impacts of their decisions. As a trusted adviser, the CFO will also drive continual improvements and foster a finance function that supports growth with discipline.
Who Should Apply
- Professionals holding CA or CPA qualifications with significant experience in senior financial leadership.
- Candidates who have contributed at both executive and board levels within complex organisations.
- Those with deep expertise in commercial finance, financial planning, governance, risk management, and controls.
- Individuals adept at simplifying complex financial information for diverse audiences.
- Leaders experienced in enhancing systems, processes, and building finance team capability.
- Professionals with a pragmatic leadership style that balances intellectual rigor with strong interpersonal skills.
Culture and Environment
The organisation values commercial ambition grounded in responsibility to its people, clients, and community. Its leadership style is accessible and collaborative, with decisions made close to the operational level. Constructive challenge is welcomed to improve outcomes, and the CFO will join a candid and cooperative executive team expected to contribute beyond their direct roles.
Benefits
- A pivotal leadership role with influence spanning strategy, operations, and investment decisions.
- Direct engagement with the Chief Executive, Board, and executive leadership.
- An opportunity to enhance financial expertise within a mature yet evolving company.
- Senior role based in Geelong avoiding the commute to Melbourne.
- A competitive executive remuneration package that reflects the role's responsibilities.
Diversity and Inclusion
The employer strongly supports workforce diversity and inclusion, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds, cultures, and communities including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. They value the unique perspectives diversity brings and encourage applications from people of different genders, ages, religions, disabilities, sexual orientations, family responsibilities, and cultures.
Additional Information
Due to a high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Applicants wishing to seek feedback after seven business days may reach out directly.
