Job description
Company Overview
The hiring group is a fast-growing healthcare organization in Riyadh that runs several medical clinics across dentistry, dermatology, laser, and aesthetic care. It operates through multiple legal entities and branches, and is focused on building a stronger finance team, improving accounting governance, sharpening financial reporting, tightening internal controls, and upgrading ERP capabilities.
The workplace is described as professional and collaborative, offering an opportunity for an experienced finance professional to help shape a centralized, high-performing finance function.
Role Summary
This position is for an accomplished Chief Accountant who will take ownership of the daily accounting operations for the assigned company while also supporting wider finance transformation efforts across the group. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and requires hands-on leadership across closing, reporting, reconciliations, controls, audit coordination, and compliance.
The ideal person will bring solid experience in preparing financial statements, managing the general ledger, handling external audits, overseeing internal controls, and working across multiple entities. Background in healthcare, medical clinics, or hospitals would be a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and make sure transactions are posted correctly in the right period.
- Prepare and check the monthly financial statements, including the statement of financial position, income statement, cash flow statement, and related schedules.
- Oversee the general ledger and review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions, depreciation, payroll postings, and other closing adjustments.
- Examine bank reconciliations, supplier reconciliations, customer balances, employee advances, and other balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Handle and supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury accounting, fixed assets, inventory accounting, and core accounting activities.
- Keep supporting schedules and working papers complete and accurate for all significant financial statement balances.
- Review supplier aging, payment timing, unpaid liabilities, unrecorded invoices, and accrued expenses.
- Track revenue recognition and reconcile figures between the medical operating system, POS transactions, bank collections, and accounting records.
- Check inventory movements, stock reconciliations, physical count variances, weighted-average costing, expired stock, and slow-moving items.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and reconcile additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation, and physical verification of assets.
- Review doctor commission calculations, payroll accruals, employee benefits, leave provisions, and end-of-service benefit computations.
- Ensure intercompany transactions and balances are properly recorded and reconciled across group entities each month.
- Assist with consolidated or combined financial reporting and intercompany elimination entries.
- Maintain compliance with IFRS, approved accounting policies, Saudi VAT rules, Zakat requirements, withholding tax obligations, and ZATCA expectations.
- Prepare VAT reconciliations, tax schedules, supporting files, and responses to regulatory questions when needed.
- Work with external auditors, prepare the PBC request list, provide supporting documents, and follow up on audit observations and proposed adjustments.
- Set up and monitor internal controls for journal entries, payments, bank activity, supplier setup, revenue, inventory, and the closing cycle.
- Support ERP rollout or improvement work, including chart of accounts design, master-data checks, testing, data migration, and user acceptance testing.
- Prepare financial analysis and management reports to assist the CFO and senior leadership in decision-making.
- Lead, coach, and develop accountants, distribute work, review outputs, and keep the team aligned with closing timelines.
- Spot accounting risks, unresolved balances, control gaps, and process weaknesses, then recommend corrective actions.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a similar discipline is required.
- Professional membership or active affiliation with SOCPA is preferred.
- CPA, CMA, ACCA, SOCPA Fellowship, or another recognized accounting qualification is considered an advantage.
- At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience is required.
- Minimum 2 to 3 years in a Chief Accountant, Accounting Supervisor, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership role is expected.
- Solid practical experience in month-end and year-end closing, along with preparation of full financial statements, is essential.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards is needed.
- Hands-on exposure to Saudi VAT, Zakat, withholding tax, and ZATCA compliance is required.
- Experience managing external audits and working with Big Four or other well-known audit firms is preferred.

- Strong ERP and accounting system experience is necessary; Odoo, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar systems are an advantage.

- Good understanding of internal controls, segregation of duties, audit trails, and financial governance is required.
- Proven ability to lead and develop accounting staff while handling multiple priorities under tight deadlines is important.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills are expected.
