  • Ensure hazardous materials are correctly segregated, labeled, and stored following global standards such as HAZMAT, OSHA, GHS, along with local laws.
  • Perform risk assessments, establish and maintain safety procedures, and lead investigations into any incidents.
  • Use engineering methods to optimize warehouse layout, inventory processes, and material flow for increased efficiency, cost reduction, and risk minimization.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts, reconciliation, and use of ERP and Warehouse Management Systems designed for chemical tracking.
  • Collaborate with production, procurement, logistics, and quality assurance departments to guarantee timely and compliant availability of materials.
  • Create and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to standardize operations.
  • Oversee environmental controls for sensitive chemical products and resolve technical challenges.
  • Conduct training and supervise warehouse personnel in safe chemical handling, personal protective equipment (PPE) use, emergency response, and engineering best practices.
  • Generate reports on key metrics such as throughput, accuracy, safety incidents, and overall efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects including process automation, lean warehousing strategies, and sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Petrochemical Engineering, or closely related discipline is essential.
  • At least two years of practical experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or plant operations within chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas, or similar process sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of chemical properties, compatibility, reactivity, and safe handling procedures.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks and standards such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, IMDG, ISO 14001, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ERP solutions (e.g., Tally), and inventory management techniques.
  • Preferred certification in hazardous materials management (HAZMAT, forklift operation, or comparable safety credentials).
