About the Role and Team

This position is based within the Food Services Department at the Royal Hobart Hospital, supporting a team dedicated to preparing and delivering meals to patients, visitors, and clients. The Catering Clerk plays a vital administrative role to ensure smooth service operations with focus on customer service and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clerical and administrative support maintaining high standards focused on customer service.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements at all times.
  • Manage information systems and perform processes according to departmental guidelines and protocols.
  • Coordinate patient menu organization to ensure alignment with prescribed diet lists.

Experience and Skills Required

  • Prior experience in administrative roles, ideally in hospital or healthcare settings, with solid understanding of relevant policies, legislation, and workplace guidelines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication capabilities and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with staff across levels and the public.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and customer-focused approach within a collaborative, innovative team environment, with ability to prioritize and problem-solve workflow demands.
  • Competence in the use of computer-based information management systems and Microsoft Office applications including word processing and spreadsheets, with skills to create basic reports as needed.

Employment Details

  • This is a permanent, full-time day role, working a total of 76 hours across fortnightly schedule.
  • Working hours are Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • The role does not include weekend shifts but requires working on public holidays.
  • Applicants should be prepared for potential future employment in similar full-time, part-time, or casual roles based on this selection process for a period of twelve months.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range between $68,854 and $73,947 per annum, with an additional employer superannuation contribution of 12%.
