Job description

About the Role

Chewy is looking for a Category Specialist to support vendor onboarding, enablement, and day-to-day management within the Hard Goods category. The role works across teams to bring vendors into the system accurately, help resolve issues quickly, and maintain a smooth experience for both vendors and internal stakeholders.

Chewy’s broader purpose is to be the most trusted and convenient online destination for pet parents, veterinarians, and service providers. Success is judged by the satisfaction of the people and pets served, with a focus on thoughtful service and a positive customer experience.

What You Will Do

  • Oversee onboarding for assigned Hard Goods vendors from initial setup to launch, including timelines, guidance, and progress communication.
  • Coordinate with Merchandising Operations to manage onboarding tasks, clear blockers, and resolve open issues.
  • Make sure vendors are set up correctly across relevant systems, tools, and operational requirements.
  • Assist with product setup, configuration, and ongoing upkeep.
  • Investigate product-related problems and work with Operations, Product, and Technology teams to drive resolution.
  • Spot repeat issues, risks, and improvement opportunities, then share findings to support better processes and product outcomes.
  • Handle incoming tickets from vendors and internal teams related to onboarding and category execution.
  • Prioritize, track, and follow issues through to closure while keeping all parties informed.
  • Communicate in a clear, professional manner and build strong working relationships with vendors.
  • Proactively identify vendor risks, execution gaps, and operational opportunities.
  • Relay vendor feedback and operational observations to help improve processes and tools.
  • Support additional category-level operational projects as required.

What We Are Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree in BS/BA is preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in category operations, vendor management, merchandising support, or a closely related function.
  • Prior exposure to working with external vendors and internal cross-functional partners.
  • Experience handling tickets, operational workflows, or similar request management processes.
  • Familiarity with merchandising or vendor onboarding support systems.
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
