Job description
About the role
Summerset Retirement Villages is looking for a casual caregiver to join the team at Summerset by the Sea Village in Katikati. The position is focused on helping create a safe, healthy, and enjoyable living environment for residents, while supporting their day-to-day needs as part of a collaborative care team.
What you’ll do
This is a varied hands-on role that centres on personal support and assistance with daily activities. You will contribute to residents’ comfort, wellbeing, and overall quality of life.
- Serve meals and provide support during mealtimes.
- Assist residents with personal hygiene tasks, including showering.
- Support individual care plan needs such as walks and exercise.
- Help facilitate activities like puzzles, table tennis, and similar pastimes.
Working arrangement
This is a casual position, so shifts will be offered as and when required. Availability for different shift patterns, including short-notice cover, is important.
What we’re looking for
The ideal candidate will be caring, patient, and empathetic, with a genuine interest in making a positive difference in older people’s lives. You should also be able to communicate well and build trusted relationships with residents and colleagues.
- Previous experience in aged care or a similar support role.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to develop lasting relationships.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, sometimes at short notice.
