Caretaker

About the Role

Aneurin Leisure Trust is seeking a dependable and proactive caretaker to join the team at Ebbw Vale and Brynmawr Learning Action Centres. This role involves general security and cleaning activities to maintain a clean, safe, and fully functional environment for staff, visitors, and the public.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the keyholder for the facility.
• Receive deliveries of equipment and materials.
• Ensure safe operation of centre equipment.
• Relocate furniture and equipment as needed.
• Assist students, staff, and centre users to ensure smooth operations.
• Set up IT equipment for users and tutors.
• Arrange accommodation for group events.
• Report maintenance needs to the site manager.
• Perform general maintenance tasks including minor repairs and painting.
• Conduct routine health and safety inspections.
• Identify hazards or repair requirements and notify the site manager.
• Attend to out-of-hours call outs when necessary.
• Coordinate with other caretakers to cover centre hours through rota systems.
• Cover for colleagues during annual leave or sickness, possibly on short notice.
• Follow health, safety, and welfare policies of the Trust.
• Uphold the Corporate Equality Policy and support anti-discrimination practices.
• Perform any additional duties assigned by management.

Additional Information

Successful candidates will undergo thorough pre-employment screening, including a Disclosure of Criminal Records application. The closing date for this position is 31st July 2026, with interview dates to be confirmed.

Employment Details

Grade 3 SCP 4 £25,185 Full-Time Equivalent, equating to approximately £13.05 per hour based on a 14-hour workweek.
