Job description
Role Summary
Initio Capital is seeking a Capital Strategy Mentor to join its private capital ecosystem in New York, NY. This is an independent contractor engagement focused on guiding fund managers, sponsors, and operators on capital formation, fundraising approach, and how to position themselves for investors.
Capital Strategy Mentors sit in a senior advisory layer within the ecosystem. The role is built for experienced professionals who have raised capital, structured funds, or advised on investor-facing initiatives and want access to meaningful advisory work, transaction-linked earnings, and stronger visibility across the network.
About the Platform
Initio Sphere brings together capital and talent by connecting fund managers, investors, operators, analysts, and deal scouts through curated relationships, real deal opportunities, and institutional-grade workflows.
What the Role Involves
Approved mentors may be brought in to advise on fund structure, capital planning, fundraising readiness, investor communications, and LP positioning. The work is approval-based rather than a standard employment arrangement, and mentors are activated only after a selective verification process.
This is a strategic advisory role centered on judgment, positioning, and mentorship. It is not intended for execution-heavy modeling or routine fundraising administration unless that is specifically approved for a given engagement.
Approved Advisory Areas
- Shaping fund formation and capital-raising plans
- Helping with LP messaging, investor segmentation, and positioning
- Advising on capital stack design and financing strategy
- Supporting investment committee and fundraising readiness
- Mentoring analysts and deal scouts from a capital markets perspective
- Supporting investor relations and longer-term capital strategy
Compensation
Compensation is set at $200–$500 per hour or may be structured on a transaction-based basis, depending on the scope of work, deal size, and the advisory engagement. Payments are made after advisory milestones are completed or when a transaction closes successfully. There is no stated ceiling on earnings for sustained, high-value contributions.
Activation Process
- Submit an application covering your background, fundraising experience, and deal history
- Complete verification and approval for the relevant advisory category
- Gain increased visibility within the platform
- Start advising funds, sponsors, analysts, and deal scouts on approved assignments
Compliance and Restrictions
Mentors must stay within applicable securities-law boundaries and focus on strategic guidance, positioning, and capital-related mentorship.
- No advice to the general public on investments
- No solicitation of securities
- No marketing of investments outside approved channels
- No representation of Initio Sphere in a regulated capacity
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is best suited to former investment bankers, private equity or venture capital professionals, senior fund executives, capital-raising specialists, placement advisors, and operators with LP-facing experience. It also fits senior mentors who can guide analysts and deal scouts on investor readiness and capital strategy, especially those seeking high-impact advisory work without full-time fund commitments.
Why This Opportunity Stands Out
- Direct exposure to fund managers, investors, and active private-market initiatives
- Ability to earn from capital-markets expertise without traditional employment constraints
- Opportunity to build credibility in a high-signal private capital network
- Influence how capital is raised, positioned, and deployed across deals
- One platform for mentorship, strategy, and professional growth
Additional Information
Initio Sphere describes itself as a private capital ecosystem where capital meets talent. This role is explicitly positioned as an independent contractor engagement rather than a traditional job.
