Camber Welcome Assistant

Overview

South East Employers is recruiting committed and enthusiastic Camber Welcome Assistants to join the Coastal Operations team at Camber Sands. This role supports the day-to-day running of the beach area and its associated car parks, helping the council manage visitor movement safely and smoothly during the summer season.

What the role involves

In this position, you will spend a significant part of your time outdoors in all weather conditions while working with members of the public. The work is varied, demanding, and often requires staying calm under pressure. It is also a role where good communication, a confident manner, and the ability to handle difficult situations are essential.

You will assist Coastal Operations Officers by helping direct traffic into and out of Camber car parks and by offering clear guidance and helpful information to visitors. The role forms an important part of the wider operational management of the beach and supports safe, effective summer operations.

Candidate profile

The council is looking for applicants who are self-motivated, confident, and experienced in dealing with the general public. Previous experience in a similar position is preferred, though full training will be provided for the right person. The team welcomes individuals who enjoy a fast-paced environment and find purposeful public-facing work rewarding.

Working pattern and employment details

This opportunity may involve casual, full-time, part-time, and temporary working arrangements. Flexible scheduling is required, including weekend work. The role is based at Camber Sands in Camber, England.

Pay and application information

Pay is £12.88 to £13.28 per hour, with the exact rate depending on the duties and level of responsibility for each shift. The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 19 July 2026.
