This position plays a key role in making sure court dates, filing deadlines, and hearing dates are tracked accurately and on time.
What You Will Handle
In this role, you will work with a team of three experienced calendar clerks and help manage the flow of incoming legal mail and court filings. Your day-to-day work will include calculating deadlines, entering them into the calendar system, preparing reminders for attorneys, and reserving court appearances. Accuracy, consistency, and the ability to stay composed in a high-volume environment are essential.
Key Duties
- Check legal filings and calculate deadlines according to court rules and internal procedures.
- Sort, rename, save, and file incoming mail and litigation documents in the proper systems.
- Book court appearances and make sure internal records reflect those reservations.
- Prepare weekly deadline reminders and reports for attorneys.
- Coordinate with attorneys and staff to confirm or clarify calendaring details.
- Keep detailed logs and records of all scheduled events and deadline entries.
- Work closely with the calendar team to ensure every deadline is tracked and met.
Requirements
The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, and able to manage a large number of deadlines with limited supervision. Previous experience with legal calendaring or docketing in state or federal courts is preferred. Familiarity with court rules and calendaring software such as One Legal, CourtCall, or similar tools will be helpful. Strong written and verbal communication skills, accountability, and solid time management are also important.
Compensation and Benefits
This is an hourly, in-office position paying $24 to $25 per hour, depending on experience. The firm provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes full coverage of dental and vision premiums, full coverage of all Silver-level medical plans, and an employer retirement contribution of about 10% total, made up of 3% Safe Harbor plus 7% Profit Sharing. You will also receive a $500 annual FSA contribution. Paid time off starts with 80 hours, with an additional 40 hours added after the third anniversary, along with sick leave and a fully paid birthday off.
