Overview
Turner Industries Group is seeking a CAD Draftsman to contribute to our Engineering department at the Pipe Fabrication Facility located in Port Allen, LA. This role involves creating detailed CAD spool drawings essential for pipe fabrication, testing, and coating processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed CAD drawings (spool sheets) tailored for pipe fabrication shop operations including fabrication, testing, and coating of pipe spools.
- Ensure drawings comply with both customer and internal quality standards and specifications.
- Create full and precise spool sheets and revise them when customer isometrics, orthographics, or project specifications are updated.
- Communicate effectively and follow directions accurately.
- Maintain a safe and clean workplace environment consistently.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Preferably possess a minimum of one year experience relevant to CAD drafting.
- Proficient use of CAD software and MS Excel is preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s or Associate degree in CAD, Piping Design, or related discipline is advantageous.
- Must successfully complete any applicable pre-employment qualification tests.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
- Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail.
- Undergo post-offer drug and alcohol screening, company indoctrination, and job site orientation.
- Personal protective equipment (hearing protection, safety glasses, long sleeve shirts, gloves, steel toe boots) is mandatory when in shop or yard areas.
- Candidates must not pose a direct threat to health or safety in the workplace.
Physical and Cognitive Requirements
The role demands the ability to reach in multiple directions, handle objects, stand, sit, walk, see and hear (with or without correction), follow procedures, apply math skills, understand and visualize spatial objects, and recognize safety hazards. Work is mainly in a climate-controlled office within the fabrication facility, with occasional shop area walkthroughs.
Work Environment Details
Potential mobility challenges exist due to uneven terrain and obstructed paths onsite. The predominant environment is indoors, with exposure to noise from tools and machinery when in shop areas.
