Role Overview
Seating Solutions, part of InProduction, operates within a larger network of event production businesses built over the past decade through the integration of several seating and staging specialists. The company supports major events across the United States with temporary seating, staging, structures, and scenic production, and places strong emphasis on safety, quality, and customer service.
This opening is for an entry-level CAD Detailer who can help develop accurate drawings and design support materials for high-profile nationwide events. The role centers on producing clear technical drawings for sales teams, customers, building officials, and field technicians using the company’s parts library. What You Will Do
- Create precise 2D drafting sets in VectorWorks, AutoCAD, and SketchUp for scenic flats, steps, decks, deck plugs, pipe-and-base layouts, drape line plots, and basic stage plans.
- Turn sketches, notes, and existing drawings into practical drafting packages that support Project Managers and Production Designers.
- Build simple 3D representations of basic scenic elements from 2D drawings to improve visualization and coordination.
- Use company drafting standards and templates so drawings stay consistent across projects.
- Prepare drawing packages for fabrication and on-site installation.
- Work with fabrication teams to confirm construction details are accurate and easy to follow.
- Revise drawings based on redlines and feedback from the field.
- Join internal production meetings and, when needed, visit job sites to verify drawings.
- Keep digital project files, version history, and drawing records organized and up to date.
Education and Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate degree, technical certificate, or formal CAD training is preferred. Experience through an internship or work in live events, scenic fabrication, or theatrical production is considered an advantage.
Requirements
- Strong command of 2D drafting in VectorWorks and AutoCAD.
- Working familiarity with SketchUp for basic scenic modeling.
- Knowledge of common scenic construction parts and stage layouts.
- Careful attention to detail and the ability to follow written and spoken directions.
- Ability to interpret shop standards and apply them correctly in drawings.
- Good organizational habits for handling several projects and file versions.
- Comfort working with teams in a fast-changing environment.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and file-sharing tools.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Willingness to learn through training and mentorship.
- Availability for occasional overtime and site visits.
- Bonus qualification: experience with Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop is helpful but not mandatory.
