Role overview
This contract position is for a CAD specialist supporting a client on remote basis, with work available from anywhere in Australia. The assignment focuses on producing, checking, and improving 3D mechanical designs for AI hardware integration. The selected candidate will help ensure the designs satisfy performance goals, are practical to manufacture, and align with required compliance standards. The work contributes to the creation of next-generation AI infrastructure, so accuracy and engineering discipline are essential.
Key responsibilities
- Create and refine 3D CAD models for mechanical parts used in AI hardware systems.
- Review designs in detail to confirm strength, thermal behavior, and manufacturability.
- Work closely with engineering teams to address design issues and incorporate feedback from simulations and testing.
- Prepare technical files such as drawings, assembly guidance, and bills of materials for manufacturing use.
- Make sure all work follows relevant industry standards and the client’s validation and certification requirements.
Required skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of practical experience using 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360. Experience with mechanical design for hardware products, especially in technology or AI infrastructure, is preferred. A strong grasp of GD&T and precision mechanical design principles is important, along with the ability to convert technical specifications into production-ready models. Familiarity with simulation and validation tools like ANSYS or COMSOL for thermal and structural analysis is also expected.
