Position Overview: Buying Professional
This role focuses on sourcing, negotiating, and procuring various commodities, including sheet metal, stamped and plastic parts, electronics, metal components, and electrical bought-out items. You will be responsible for executing strategic procurement activities within a business unit to ensure acquisition of quality items in the right quantities, at competitive prices, and aligned with long-term plans following company guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead sourcing, negotiations, and procurement of a range of commodities across categories.
- Manage strategic purchasing initiatives to meet quality, quantity, cost, and timing targets as per BU and group directives.
- Support objectives such as cost reduction and capacity enhancement aligned with business goals.
- Identify opportunities for material cost reduction and implement control measures.
- Develop supplier strategies including bottom-up costing, negotiation, vendor evaluation, and alternate source development.
- Optimize costs and onboard new vendors for sustained supplier management.
- Establish and administer rate and frame contracts with vendors following company policies.
- Monitor supplier performance ensuring timely deliveries.
- Utilize e-sourcing tools effectively and participate in commodity pooling.
- Operate procurement functions in accordance with local and SAG guidelines.
- Manage negotiations, cost finalization, QES, frame agreements, and costing releases.
- Make informed make-or-buy decisions and promote localization of parts or sub-assemblies.
Work Environment
This position is located in Puducherry (previously Pondicherry), offering the opportunity to collaborate with teams shaping infrastructure at municipal and national levels.
