Job description
Role overview
This full-time direct-hire role is based in the Atlanta Metropolitan Area in a hybrid setup. The position focuses on keeping customer service levels strong, using inventory efficiently, and maintaining clear communication with assigned branches and vendors. The buyer/procurement analyst will support uninterrupted supply flow, timely replenishment for distribution centers, and stronger vendor performance.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare and oversee purchase orders so products are replenished on time.
- Protect service-level targets and inventory turn objectives.
- Stay in contact with vendors and internal branch teams to keep product movement running smoothly.
- Track vendor performance, including fill rates and delivery timeliness, and drive follow-up actions when needed.
- Arrange returns for items that are damaged or no longer carried.
- Examine missed demand patterns and make inventory adjustments to help capture future sales.
- Review inventory information to identify transfer opportunities and reduce excess stock.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement efforts across supply chain processes.
Experience and skills needed
The role calls for 2 to 4 years of experience in purchasing and inventory management. Candidates should be comfortable working with intermediate to advanced Excel tools, including pivot tables and total cost analysis. Strong analytical thinking, critical reasoning, problem-solving ability, communication, and organization are essential.
Preferred background
Applicants with experience in a large corporate environment may be preferred. Familiarity with SQL, advanced Excel, Manhattan Inventory Replenishment software, and CPIM certification from APICS or an equivalent credential would be an advantage.
Education
A bachelor’s degree is preferred, especially in Business, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
