Job description
Role overview
The Global Procurement Central Services (GPCS) Buyer role sits within Procurement Operations and supports Amazon’s Global Procurement Organisation. The purpose of the position is to help ensure strong value for non-inventory purchases that keep Fulfilment Centres supplied with the packaging and shipping materials they need for uninterrupted operations.
In this role, you will support a cluster of Fulfilment Centres by handling procurement activities end to end. Typical work may include keeping supply flow steady, making sure goods and services are purchased at the best overall business value, checking purchase requisitions for compliance, building and updating procurement catalogues, and onboarding vendors.
The cluster size will depend on factors such as Fulfilment Centre size and related business needs. This position reports to the Procurement Manager for GPCS APAC.
Travel
Occasional travel may be needed to visit individual Fulfilment Centres within the cluster or other regions. Travel is expected to account for about 5% of working time.
What you will do
- Forecast daily demand and manage non-inventory packaging materials effectively.
- Create purchase orders and support the ordering process.
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure deliveries arrive on time.
- Build productive working relationships with internal site teams, external vendors, and other Amazon groups such as Operations and Corporate.
- Follow the company’s Spending and Transaction Policy at all times.
- Organise truck deliveries and plan delivery time slots in advance with suppliers.
- Share accurate delivery schedules with local FC materials receiving teams.
- Act as the escalation contact so deliveries are unloaded according to agreed timelines.
- Work with Operations and on-site procurement teams to reduce space-related constraints.
- Help lower the number of Invoices on Hold (IOH) requests.
- Support buyers in other regions whenever needed.
- Train and guide new buyers.
- Deliver procurement targets, including KPI performance, cluster cost savings, avoidance of stock-outs, and completion of individual project goals.
- Carry out compliance checks on purchase requisitions.
- Create, update, and retire procurement catalogues as required.
- Complete vendor onboarding activities.
Required profile
Strong English communication skills at CEFR B2/C1 level are required, along with practical experience using MS Office, especially Excel.
Preferred background
Experience in procurement and purchasing, including supplier relationship management, is preferred. Fluency in Italian, French, or German is also considered an advantage.
