Job description

About Overflow

Overflow is a Series C fintech and SaaS company revolutionizing ways to give through cash, stock, crypto, and more within an elegant platform tailored to churches, nonprofits, and mission-focused organizations. Supported by top investors such as Uncork Capital and Salesforce Ventures, Overflow aims to remove friction in generosity at scale, guided by principles like stewardship, integrity, and excellence inspired by Proverbs 11:24.

Work Environment

Overflow employs a flexible work model without a fixed office mandate. The company maintains offices in Los Gatos, CA, and Birmingham, AL, which facilitate team collaboration and gatherings. Candidates must be comfortable with occasional in-person meetings or team-specific onsite commitments depending on their department's needs.

Role Overview

The Strategic Operations Lead will establish and head the core operational functions of this fast-growing fintech. Reporting to the Chief Product Officer, you will manage Payment Operations, Tap Operations, and lead the company's SOC 2 compliance program from the outset. This role uniquely integrates AI fluency to automate workflows, develop tools, and serve as the company's AI adoption ambassador, enhancing operational efficiency beyond your own teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement company-wide planning rhythms, operational cadence, and business reviews.
  • Take ownership of cross-functional projects requiring a singular accountable leader.
  • Define critical operational metrics (e.g., volume, chargeback ratios, settlement timing) and build real-time reporting tools enabling leadership insights without dependency on data teams.
  • Manage and optimize the company’s toolset, including build-versus-buy decisions, supporting all functions in using these tools effectively.
  • Promote AI adoption by identifying impactful use cases, piloting, scaling AI tools across teams, and exemplifying AI-driven operations.
  • Evaluate internal tooling needs, formulate clear project scopes, and collaborate with engineering resources to translate operational challenges into prioritized solutions.
  • Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing insights on operational successes and areas needing intervention.
  • Oversee Payment Operations including KYC, risk assessment, chargebacks, stock gift processing, and reconciliation; maintain healthy relationships with processors and ensure regulatory controls.
  • Grow and mentor Payment Operations Manager to manage daily team functions as the team expands.
  • Collaborate with Product teams on donor-facing payment processes focusing on compliance and recurring payment flows.
  • Lead Tap Operations team overseeing fulfillment, logistics, vendor relations, and product delivery, partnering with Partnerships and Success teams on demand forecasting and timelines.
  • Own and manage the SOC 2 compliance program, supervising auditor interactions, GRC tools, evidence management, and controls with support from Engineering on technical safeguards.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a senior operations leader with direct management responsibilities in business or strategic operations, chief-of-staff roles, or strategy consulting at high-growth companies.
  • Strong understanding of payment operations including KYC, risk management, chargebacks, and reconciliation processes.
  • Hands-on experience with SOC 2 (Type II preferred) compliance programs capable of independently managing and maintaining the audit cycle.
  • Demonstrable expertise in applying AI tools effectively to automate processes and scale solutions, including facilitating AI adoption across teams.
  • Exceptional skills in scoping and prioritizing complex operational problems into achievable projects using SaaS, no-code automation, AI, or engineering collaborations.
  • Robust analytical thinking with experience handling P&L responsibilities, interpreting metrics, and resolving cross-team operational challenges.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, capable of managing teams while engaging directly in strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
  • Alignment with Overflow’s mission, core values, and hybrid working culture.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in scaling SaaS companies at Series B or C stages.
  • Exposure to nonprofit, faith-driven, or regulated payments industries.
  • Combination of consulting and operational leadership roles.

Compensation & Benefits

Overflow offers a competitive salary benchmarked to industry standards, supplemented by equity, performance bonuses (where applicable), and comprehensive benefits. The compensation philosophy emphasizes long-term ownership through equity participation, reflecting company success.

  • Competitive base salary with equity and commission potential.

  • Generous paid time off and official company holidays.
  • Paid parental leave policy.
  • 401(k) retirement savings plan.

  • Company-run team retreats and structured in-person events throughout each year.
