Role Summary
The Business Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence Analyst plays a pivotal role in transforming reliable data into actionable insights to enhance decision-making. This position partners with business units to create Power BI dashboards, define relevant KPIs, uncover insights, and identify viable BI and AI applications that improve efficiency in Finance, Inventory, Operations, and additional key areas. This role focuses on business-facing reporting and insight generation without engaging heavily in data engineering or advanced machine learning development.
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and construct trusted and user-friendly Power BI dashboards and reports utilizing governed Gold-layer datasets.
- Translate business inquiries into meaningful KPIs, visualizations, trend analyses, and actionable recommendations.
- Conduct data analysis across finance, inventory, operations, and other domains to detect risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts to validate requirements, ensure data integrity, interpret findings, and confirm reports meet real business needs.
- Document metric definitions, underlying assumptions, calculation methods, data sources, business rules, and guidance on usage to reinforce KPI governance.
- Assist the Data Product Owner by providing insights on reporting priorities, dataset needs, AI use cases, business impact considerations, risks, and dependencies.
- Promote adoption by delivering training, coaching, comprehensive documentation, and ongoing support enabling confident dashboard use and self-service analytics.
- Monitor and measure the impact of dashboards through usage statistics, user feedback, data quality tracking, adoption metrics, and business value evaluation.
- Identify practical AI opportunities including forecasting, optimization, anomaly detection, automation, Copilot-enabled analytics, and decision support tools.
- Work alongside BI/Data Developers, data custodians, and IT teams to confirm dataset preparedness, data quality challenges, semantic model requirements, and reporting boundaries.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Finance, Operations Management, or a closely related discipline.
- 3–7 years of professional experience in business intelligence, analytics, reporting, business analysis, or data-driven decision support roles.
- Proficient hands-on experience with Power BI including dashboard design, data visualization best practices, usability considerations, basic DAX, and report development.
- Familiarity with SQL and structured datasets, capable of exploring, validating, interpreting, and explaining business data insights.
- Experience gathering and translating business requirements into KPIs, dashboards, analytical reports, and actionable recommendations.
- Ability to define, document, and govern business metrics, reporting assumptions, data definitions, and performance indicators.
- Strong communication skills enabling clear explanation of insights to business users, technical teams, and senior leadership stakeholders.
- Collaborative nature with proven ability to engage effectively with SMEs, data product managers, BI/Data Developers, IT professionals, and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aviation, maintenance repair and overhaul (MRO), engineering, operations, finance, inventory management, supply chain, or other regulated operational sectors.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouse/Warehouse frameworks, semantic models, Gold-layer datasets, or governed reporting ecosystems.
- Familiarity with enterprise systems or ERPs such as Ramco, SAP, IFS, AMOS, Oracle, UKG, or HCL Notes.
- Exposure to AI-related initiatives like forecasting, optimization, automation, anomaly detection, or AI-supported analytics.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Copilot, Power BI Copilot, or similar AI productivity software.
- Involvement in supporting self-service analytics, data governance, adherence to reporting standards, increasing data literacy, and championing user adoption.
- Track record of designing executive dashboards, scorecards, management reports, adoption measurement metrics, and business value tracking instruments.

Additional Information
This role requires applicants to obtain Level II security clearance with the Canadian Government and access under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP / ITAR).
