GeninWorld is a comprehensive product studio catering to startups by providing strategy, design, development, and AI integration services all under one roof. We serve startup founders seeking a dependable technical partner to create or expand their product offerings.

Role Overview

As a Business Development Representative, you will be the initial contact point for startups aiming to develop their products. Your responsibility will include assessing leads, understanding the clients' technical requirements, and liaising with our internal teams. This role focuses on consultative sales with founders already acknowledging their need for assistance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to inbound inquiries from our website, social platforms, and referrals within 24 hours.
  • Hold discovery sessions with startup founders to grasp their product goals, technical demands, and schedule.
  • Evaluate client opportunities based on criteria such as business stage, budget, and project scope, then arrange meetings with project leads.
  • Execute outreach campaigns targeting startups primarily in fintech, healthtech, edtech, and SaaS sectors.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date records in our CRM system and perform consistent yet non-intrusive follow-ups.
  • Collaborate with the internal team to gain comprehensive knowledge of our capabilities and effectively communicate these to prospects.
  • Participate in startup ecosystem events, demo days, and networking occasions to build and nurture industry contacts.

Candidate Requirements

  • Between one to three years of experience in B2B sales, business development, or account management, preferably within technology or agency environments.
  • A sincere interest in startups and familiarity with the challenges they face; experience working at or with startups is advantageous.
  • Comfortable engaging in technical discussions; while coding skills are not necessary, understanding concepts like React, APIs, and AI integration is expected.
  • Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Self-driven and well-organized, with the ability to independently manage sales pipelines and follow-ups.
  • Based in Nairobi or able to work remotely with a timezone similar to Nairobi's.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience selling software development, design, or consulting services.
  • Established relationships within the East African startup community.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms such as HubSpot or Pipedrive.
  • Knowledge of agile development methodologies, product management, or user experience design.
