Role overview
This position is for a Business Development Director located on the East Coast or in the Midwest of the United States. The role is centered on generating outbound business from the US into North Asia, especially China, Hong Kong, Korea, and Japan, as well as the wider Asia-Pacific market.
The right candidate will have previously lived and worked in North Asia and will bring strong knowledge of the region’s business culture, professional relationships, and market conditions. The role reports to the Group Commercial Director and the Commercial Director for North Asia.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships with intermediaries such as law firms, accounting practices, and other professional advisers.
- Use personal connections, conferences, and industry events to uncover and create new business leads.
- Approach and engage US companies that are planning to expand into China and broader Asia, or that want to grow their current operations in the region.
- Strengthen Acclime’s visibility in the US by representing the brand through thought leadership, networking, and participation in major industry events.
- Share guidance on regulatory, cultural, and operational issues that clients may face when entering North Asia markets.
- Deliver measurable revenue growth through proactive outreach and relationship-focused business development.
Candidate profile
Acclime is looking for a business development professional with a strong history of success, ideally gained in consulting or professional services. Experience in law or accounting is preferred.
The candidate must have lived in North Asia, specifically China, Hong Kong, Korea, or Japan, and should have established networks in the region. Strong communication skills, the ability to build relationships with US corporate clients and intermediaries, and the capacity to work independently while managing several priorities in a fast-moving environment are essential.
