Job description

Role overview

As a Business Consultant, you will be central to planning and executing complex IT rollouts for clients. The position combines a solid IT consulting foundation, strong stakeholder coordination, and a practical, delivery-focused approach. You will collaborate with clients, internal delivery teams, and developers to help ensure smooth go-lives, strong user adoption, and tangible business outcomes.

In addition to supporting client projects, you will help mature and scale the company’s consulting practices. The organization already has deep industry knowledge, and this role is expected to strengthen how consulting is delivered by improving methodology, quality, and client interaction standards both internally and externally.

This position calls for previous IT consulting experience and professional fluency in German.

An AI-first mindset is part of the culture. The team actively tests and applies AI to improve delivery quality, consultant effectiveness, and the overall client experience. You are encouraged to experiment with AI and contribute ideas for how it can be embedded into consulting work.

What you will do

  • Own and support full-cycle implementations of enterprise software across several business units at client organizations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact and advisor for clients during implementation and after go-live.
  • Work with clients to define implementation scope, including affected business units, processes, interfaces, and key milestones.
  • Convert business needs into precise IT and functional specifications.
  • Plan and facilitate workshops, meetings, and calls with both business and technical stakeholders.
  • Work closely with developers and internal teams to keep delivery on schedule, within scope, and on budget.
  • Assist with software configuration tasks, including user provisioning and migration of historical and master data.
  • Run train-the-trainer sessions so clients can operate independently after rollout.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities for improvement throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Stay engaged after go-live to support issue resolution, anticipate client needs, and help maximize return on investment.
  • Represent client interests internally while balancing customer satisfaction with commercial goals.

Candidate profile

You should bring a background in IT consulting or a closely related technology-oriented advisory role, such as digital transformation, ERP implementation, or technology consulting. Relevant experience of 3–5+ years is expected across IT consulting, internal IT, software implementation, business analysis, or similar project-based work. Not every year needs to be in consulting, but you must have meaningful exposure to client-facing delivery environments.

Professional-level spoken and written German and English are required. You should also have direct experience contributing to or leading enterprise software or ERP implementation work. The role requires strong capability in turning business requirements into technical and functional requirements.

A Master’s degree or equivalent qualification is required in Computer Science, Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Information Systems, Business Informatics, or a closely related discipline.

The role suits someone who can work independently, knows when to escalate, and brings a structured, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset. A valid European work permit is mandatory.

Strong information security awareness and the ability to operate within established security frameworks are also important.

Additional requirements and working conditions

This position involves travel roughly every second week for several days at a time. Travel may include client locations across Europe as well as the Rotterdam office. The role also includes periods of work outside standard office hours and is not suitable for someone seeking a traditional 9-to-5 schedule.

It is best suited to professionals who are comfortable with intensive project delivery, regular travel, and taking full ownership of outcomes in a fast-moving consulting environment.

Nice to have

  • Experience in management consulting or strategy consulting with a strong technology focus.
  • Project management or PMO certifications.
  • Exposure to the rail, logistics, or transportation sector.
  • Understanding of IT implementation approaches and system integration.
  • Experience in scale-up or rapidly growing companies.

About the company

It develops, implements, and supports an intuitive ERP platform built for the railway industry. The broader mission is to help railway operators improve reliability, maintain high safety standards, and continuously enhance business processes through technology.

Compensation

The role offers market-aligned, competitive pay.
