Role Overview
The Business Analyst will join a product team focused on replacing a legacy financial planning system with a scalable, structured solution. The role entails translating complex financial planning concepts involving cash flow, tax, investment, and retirement into clear, actionable requirements for engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Product Manager to convert financial planning ideas into developer-ready requirements.
- Analyze existing Excel-based financial models to identify embedded logic and rules.
- Decompose interconnected calculations such as tax, cash flow, and investment growth into modular components and workflows.
- Document data relationships, calculation logic, and system behaviors including data flows, entity relationships, and dependencies.
- Assist in defining how changes in one subsystem affect others - for example, cash flow's impact on tax or savings on net worth projections.
- Work closely with developers and quality assurance teams to ensure clarity and testability of requirements.
- Validate the system outputs to guarantee alignment with expected financial results.
- Implement consistent design patterns across features to maintain system scalability.
- Participate in UX/UI design discussions focusing on usability and logical process flow.
Candidate Requirements
- Familiarity with financial planning topics: cash flow, investments, taxation, and retirement.
- Ability to quickly grasp domain-specific knowledge.
- Strong analytical skills with an aptitude for breaking down complex systems.
- Skill in transforming financial and numerical logic into well-structured requirements.
- Experience working with data models, workflows, or system architecture design.
- Proven track record of functioning effectively within agile teams, managing user stories, prioritizing tasks, and incorporating iterative feedback.
- Excellent communication skills catering to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Competence with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and various diagramming software.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience translating financial or spreadsheet-based models into software specifications.
- Knowledge of rule-based systems, simulations, or optimization methodologies.
- Awareness of financial systems across multiple jurisdictions including UK, Canada, or EU.

The expected gross annual salary range for this role is between e2 82 AC30,000 and e2 82 AC38,000. The final salary and classification will depend on qualifications, seniority, skill set, and educational background.
