Job description
Role Overview
This position supports dining facility operations at the Roy M. Wheat Galley Dining Facility in NAS Meridian, Mississippi. The custodian is responsible for overseeing bulk storeroom activities and ensuring food supplies are stored, tracked, and handled correctly.
Work Schedule
The role runs Monday through Sunday.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee bulk subsistence storerooms that hold dry, chilled, and frozen food supplies.
- Protect the security of all accountable food stock and keep inventory records accurate.
- Maintain product quality by following correct storage practices for different types of provisions.
- Check and log storeroom temperatures to stay within food safety requirements.
- Serve as the receiving inspector for incoming supplies, confirming both quality and quantity.
- Keep inventory documentation current and escalate any stock differences without delay.
- Keep the storeroom clean, orderly, and aligned with sanitation expectations.
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of experience handling bulk subsistence storeroom operations.
- Working knowledge of storage requirements for dry, refrigerated, and frozen food items.
- Comfort with basic math needed for inventory checks and stock control.
- Ability to safeguard government property and maintain accountability.
- Strong accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
