Role overview
As part of the building and facilities team, the Building Maintenance Officer will help keep Council facilities safe, accessible, and environmentally responsible. The role offers the chance to contribute to the maintenance of important community assets while being part of a local government team.
Key duties
- Support compliance administration and reporting for the facilities maintenance contract so Council objectives are met.
- Coordinate both reactive and planned maintenance activities across Council buildings in line with the Buildings and Facilities Maintenance Policy.
- Assist with minor asset renewal initiatives, essential services maintenance, and asbestos-related management.
- Track and record contractor delivery, with close attention to occupational health and safety and risk controls.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage potential risks so legal, regulatory, and policy obligations are consistently met.
What you’ll need
- A qualification in, or practical experience related to, facility management, asset management, construction management, or a similar field.
- Proven experience supporting and coordinating building maintenance contracts and associated works.
- Working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and compliance obligations, along with a general understanding of sustainable building design and operations.
- The ability to build strong and productive working relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Confidence using common systems and software such as Microsoft Office, GIS tools, records management platforms, financial systems, and asset management applications.
