Birth Certificate Registrar

Role Overview

The Birth Certificate Registrar is responsible for gathering birth data by reviewing labor and delivery logs, patient charts, and conducting patient interviews. This information is compiled and processed through the Office of Vital Statistics to generate official birth certificates. The registrar may notarize birth certificates when required and handle distribution of safety supplies like car seats as needed. They also facilitate the application process for obtaining social security numbers for newborns upon parental request.

Job Responsibilities

• Collect and compile birth information from multiple sources including labor logs and patient records.
• Process birth certificates in compliance with State of Florida regulations and the Office of Vital Statistics guidelines.
• Notarize birth certificates when necessary.
• Manage issuance of car seats and other related supplies as needed.
• Initiate social security number applications for infants when requested by parents.
• Adhere to the mission, vision, and core values of Tampa General Hospital in all professional duties.

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be a certified Notary Public.
• Ability to perform duties consistent with state and organizational standards.

Additional Information

• Work Location: Tampa General Hospital main campus with eligibility for remote work.
• Work Schedule: Part-time with shifts from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, available any day from Sunday through Saturday.
• Job Type: On-site with some remote work possible.
• Salary: Minimum hourly wage of $15.45.
