Job description
Role Overview
Join a pioneering model research team as a Biology and Biophysics Research Collaborator on a part-time, remote contract basis. This position involves contributing to cutting-edge scientific reasoning models by analyzing research data, creating training challenges, and identifying reasoning errors within biology and biophysics domains.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate scientific research and model outputs to enhance reasoning capabilities in molecular biology, biophysics, structural biology, immunology, neuroscience, genomics, and related disciplines.
- Develop training problems and highlight model inaccuracies to improve computational models.
- Collaborate closely with a senior research team in a peer-to-peer scientific environment.
- Work flexibly up to 20 hours per week, balancing this engagement alongside your ongoing research career.
- Contribute meaningfully to advancing next-generation scientific models' reasoning sophistication.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess a PhD or postdoctoral training from a top 20 global institution in life sciences or related STEM fields, or be an exceptional senior PhD candidate with a significant publication record.
- Hold first or co-first author publications in leading journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, PNAS, eLife, NEJM, or equivalent.
- Be awarded distinguished fellowships or honors (e.g., HHMI, NIH F31/F32/K99, NSF GRFP, Damon Runyon, Pew, Sloan, Simons, Fulbright, or similar recognitions).
- Currently active in a research role, including PhD candidate, postdoctoral fellow, faculty member, principal scientist, or industry researcher.
- Demonstrate expert ability to assess novelty, rigor, and validity of scientific literature and model outputs.
- Exhibit proficiency in detecting subtle scientific reasoning errors that experienced PhD researchers identify instinctively.
- Additional credentials like issued patents, entrepreneurial spinout experience, or principal/co-investigator grant leadership are advantageous.
Compensation and Terms
- Competitive hourly pay ranging from $80 to $110 depending on experience and qualifications, paid through W-2 employment.
- Part-time engagement capped at 20 hours weekly.
- Flexible schedule designed to complement an active academic or research career.
Application Process
- Submit your application through the designated easy application option.
- Applications will be screened according to the outlined requirements.
- Shortlisted candidates will receive further instructions via email to complete subsequent steps.
