Biology Professor - Remote Contract Position

About the Role

We are seeking a knowledgeable Biology expert for a short-term contract position lasting three months. This remote role involves task-based assignments focused on developing biology problems to evaluate large language models (LLMs). The commitment is at least 4 hours daily, up to 40 hours weekly, with mandatory 4-hour overlap with Pacific Standard Time (PST).

Primary Responsibilities

• Design and resolve complex biology problems that test limits of artificial intelligence models.
• Create detailed, stepwise solutions with clear logical explanations.
• Work collaboratively with AI researchers to align problem design with evaluation objectives, targeting areas challenging for current models.
• Help establish new benchmarks for evaluation referencing biology curricula from early undergraduate study through PhD levels.
• Use structured reasoning to analyze and solve intricate biological questions.
• Present biological concepts clearly using accessible language, and support explanations with visuals and simulations if necessary.
• Offer thorough annotations and constructive critiques as part of AI evaluation processes.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Master's or PhD degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or closely related disciplines, or currently pursuing a PhD or postdoctoral work.
• Strong analytical and research capabilities.
• Ability to provide detailed feedback and carefully annotate evaluations.
• Creative and lateral thinking skills.
• Excellent communication skills suitable for remote collaboration.
• Self-driven with the ability to work independently.
• Access to a computer or laptop with stable internet connectivity.
• Competency in logically addressing complex biological problems.
• Capacity to explain biology topics effectively using simple terms and supportive visual/simulation materials.
