Job Description
The Beach Guru is responsible for the efficient and timely execution of all activities within the Beach & Recreational areas. This role involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the entire recreation zone, including back offices, and ensuring all equipment is properly cared for and secured. The Beach Guru will manage towel services, ensuring adequate stock, and may be required to assist with other hotel duties, including overnight cleaning. A key aspect of the role is providing excellent customer service, maintaining professional conduct both on and off duty, and possessing a comprehensive understanding of the hotel's and department's policies and procedures. The position requires setting up workstations, maintaining cleanliness throughout shifts, and responding to guest needs with speed and courtesy. A thorough knowledge of the Recreation Department's activities, events, services, and facilities is essential, as is the ability to provide amenities services as directed. The role also involves performing daily tasks, participating in project teams, fostering a collaborative work environment with other departments, and understanding all hotel products and services, particularly sports and leisure activities. Ensuring proper accounting procedures for fees and driving departmental revenue are also key responsibilities. The Beach Guru must be prepared to undertake additional recreation duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess 1-3 years of relevant experience within the hotel industry. Key attributes include a pleasant demeanor, a focused approach to work, the ability to manage work pressure effectively, and strong multitasking capabilities. Excellent oral and written English communication skills are also required.
Additional Information
This role requires adherence to all Recreation Department operational Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and task lists. Daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning tasks will be assigned by the Recreation Supervisor or Assistant Recreation Manager. Equipment must be cleaned, stored, and secured properly. Towel management, including transport to and from laundry, is crucial. The role may involve lateral service in other hotel areas and overnight cleaning. Maintaining complete knowledge of and compliance with all company and department policies and procedures is mandatory. Workstations must be set up with necessary supplies, and cleanliness maintained throughout the shift. Guests' needs should be prioritized with a calm and courteous approach, and requests handled promptly. A full understanding of the Recreation's activities, events, and services is expected. Amenities must always be available for guests. Daily task lists and checklists must be completed. Maintaining a clean and tidy work area at all times is essential. Participation in work-related project teams is encouraged. Developing and maintaining a strong working relationship with other departments is important. A complete understanding of the hotel's products and services, especially sports and leisure activities and equipment, is necessary. Proper accounting procedures for collecting or charging fees for Recreation services must be followed. The Beach Guru must be prepared to assume other Recreation duties or responsibilities as requested by management. Driving revenue for the department is a key objective.
