Barista

Role Overview

This full-time Barista position is based at Severn Trent Coventry in Coventry, England, and runs Monday to Friday for 37.5 hours each week, typically between 7:30 am and 5:00 pm. The pay is £13.45 per hour. The role sits within the support function team and involves serving coffee to around 1,500 staff members at the Severn Trent head office, while also assisting with food service in the restaurant.

What You'll Do

• Welcome customers in a warm, professional, and approachable way.
• Prepare and serve coffees, teas, and other beverages using the correct methods, tools, and service standards.
• Explain menu items, make recommendations, and stay mindful of allergen guidance and procedures.
• Keep the coffee bar and nearby areas clean, tidy, and well organised in line with cleaning schedules, company standards, and COSHH requirements.
• Follow all food safety and health & safety rules and processes.
• Track stock levels and replenish supplies when needed.
• Handle customer orders and payments through till systems.
• Deliver strong customer service and help resolve questions, issues, or complaints.
• Support the wider team with other tasks as required.

What We're Looking For

• A confident barista with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Basic latte art skills, such as simple heart designs, would be an advantage, though expert-level artistry is not required.
• A team-oriented person who works well with others.
• Someone organised, efficient, and able to manage time well.
• A customer-focused individual with a positive can-do attitude.
• Strong listening and verbal communication skills.
• A friendly, outgoing personality with a naturally positive approach.
• A genuine passion for coffee, tea, and excellent service.
• Ability to adapt to challenges with a practical, solution-focused mindset.
• Some familiarity with food safety and sanitation practices.
• Experience in food service or a similar role is beneficial.
