Automotive Technology Professor

Job Overview

This position demands excellence in instructing and effectively engaging with students enrolled in automotive technology courses. The professor will develop instructional and testing materials, maintain course scheduling and student records, and use learning management systems for communication within the academic community.

Responsibilities

• Prepare course materials for instruction and assessment.
• Maintain accurate student records and adhere to established course schedules.
• Communicate with students, faculty, and staff via learning management systems.
• Participate actively in gathering student learning outcomes data.
• Support the Automotive Program Director by promptly reporting any deficiencies in supplies or equipment required for laboratory instruction.
• Conduct lectures, lead discussions, and facilitate other educational activities aligned to course objectives.
• Provide students with syllabi, assign grades based on skill and competency, and submit grades and reports within deadlines.
• Keep current knowledge of developments within the automotive technology field.

Requirements

• A minimum of an Associate’s degree in Automotive Technology or a closely related discipline.
• Between three to five years of practical, hands-on experience in the automotive technology industry.
• Master ASE Certification is mandatory.
• Comprehensive familiarity with automotive industry practices and teaching methodologies specific to automotive technology.

Additional Information

The role involves teaching during daytime or evening hours and is based at the Midlands Technical College - Beltline Campus in Columbia, South Carolina.
