Role Overview

As an Audio Engineer on the Bose Automotive Germany team in Stuttgart, you will be responsible for designing, integrating, tuning, and validating audio systems for vehicles to ensure a distinct and premium sound signature. Your work will cover the entire process from concept through to launch, balancing technical specifications with high-quality listening experiences through thorough objective and subjective evaluations.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform in-vehicle and laboratory tuning using audio processing techniques such as filters, crossovers, equalization, dynamic range control, bass management, and Bose proprietary algorithms.
• Conduct objective and subjective tests to assess system response, distortion, consistency, latency, and overall sound quality.
• Develop enhancements to improve efficiency and automation in delivering consistent and scalable audio experiences.
• Identify and escalate technical risks, performance issues, and acoustic challenges requiring multidisciplinary collaboration.
• Adjust audio tuning onsite when necessary to meet performance criteria and deadlines under real-world conditions.
• Provide expert recommendations on system architecture, tuning strategies, and validation readiness for assigned projects.
• Define comprehensive audio system topology, set electro-acoustic targets, and establish technical budgets and specifications.
• Specify components like speakers, enclosures, amplifiers, DSP units, and acoustic interfaces in consultation with engineering teams and suppliers.
• Collaborate closely with OEM partners across body, interior, electrical, and infotainment teams to ensure optimal system integration including packaging and isolation.
• Lead diagnostic efforts to resolve acoustic anomalies such as rattles, clipping, sound artifacts, and integration effects.
• Support program schedules, milestone tracking, documentation, reviews, production audits, and readiness for product launches.
• Present technical findings and facilitate alignment on trade-offs among stakeholders, and assist with demonstrations and customer approvals.
• Prioritize engineering tasks to align with customer expectations, program timelines, and launch objectives.

Candidate Requirements

• Master’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Audio Engineering, Physics, or a related sound-focused discipline.
• Proven experience in designing, integrating, measuring, and tuning multi-speaker audio systems using established measurement and analysis tools.
• Familiarity with DSP concepts, amplifier and system operations, requirements setting, test planning, and data-informed troubleshooting.
• Proficient English communication skills, both written and verbal, with readiness to travel and engage in hands-on work involving vehicles, instrumentation, and prototype/production equipment.
• Preferred: advanced degrees in acoustics or signal processing, experience with automotive projects, knowledge of automotive network protocols, spatial audio understanding, scripting or automation skills, and prior experience collaborating in global cross-functional teams.
• A musical background is considered advantageous.
