About The Team
The Marketplace Strategy & Operations division at DoorDash is dedicated to accelerating growth, enhancing consumer engagement, and boosting retention within the marketplace. By adopting a consumer-focused mindset, this team manages market strategy, consumer affordability, the entire DoorDash app experience, and new value propositions. Their goal is to improve how customers interact with merchants and to develop strategies that increase order frequency and loyalty.
About The Role
We are seeking an Associate Manager to lead the strategy for New Zealand's marketplace and to promote consumer growth that encourages repeat usage. This role influences how customers discover and engage with DoorDash through merchandising, app experience, pricing, and partnership initiatives. Positioned at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and cross-functional collaboration, the candidate will work closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing across both the Restaurant and New Verticals sectors.
Key responsibilities include leveraging data metrics to inform decisions by analyzing key performance indicators such as conversion rates, retention, frequency, and category adoption. Insights derived will be translated into actionable priorities and plans. Contributions to go-to-market and expansion strategies are essential, using data to identify focus areas and scaling them effectively.
The Associate Manager will oversee and enhance crucial aspects of the in-app experience, ensuring optimal discovery of merchants and offerings, effective merchandising across the platform, and a seamless, intuitive journey aligned with growth goals.
This team operates with rapid feedback cycles, allowing ideas to quickly evolve into live customer experiences with tangible impacts on engagement, order volume, and merchant revenue.
The position reports to the Manager of Consumer Strategy & Operations and requires a hybrid work arrangement involving three days in the Auckland office and two days working remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies focused on increasing consumer engagement, retention, and order rates.
- Collaborate with international product and engineering teams to test, launch, and refine new product features while monitoring performance continually.
- Partner frequently with Sales, Marketing, Ads & Promotions teams to lead the in-app experience for New Zealand, ensuring merchants achieve conversion and impression goals.
- Utilize quantitative and qualitative data analysis to guide strategy, set initiative priorities, define KPIs, and report findings to senior leadership.
- Apply a customer-first, data-driven mindset to identify improvements that incrementally enhance business outcomes.
Candidate Profile
- Over five years of professional experience in consulting, strategy, operations, product management, technology, banking, analytics, or related fields.
- A proactive and independent problem solver with strong execution skills and the ability to influence and challenge to enable innovative solutions.
- Competent in SQL at an intermediate level and experienced with dashboard tools for analytics purposes.
- Strong business insight, capable of interpreting data to determine meaningful actions and integrating performance metrics into operational strategies.
- Experienced in applying structured frameworks to dissect ambiguous problems and perform in-depth analysis to identify root causes.
- Excellent cross-functional leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
