Role Overview
WHOOP is seeking an experienced leader to launch WHOOP Labs Doha, the company’s first international product research site. This lab will work closely with the Boston WHOOP Labs team on mixed-methods research spanning physiology, user experience, and consumer insights. The Doha location will support participant experience strategy and help advance product innovation research across the GCC.
This is an in-person position in Doha, Qatar, with possible travel to Boston, MA once or twice a year. Only candidates who currently live in Doha will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Lead the strategy and execution for opening WHOOP Labs Doha, including hiring, participant compensation planning, and defining operating hours.
- Protect the integrity of research by ensuring data collection tools and team practices follow local requirements for ethical human-subjects research.
- Set and track KPIs to evaluate program performance and progress against goals.
- Maintain strong coordination between the Boston and Doha labs by creating effective operating practices for multi-site research.
- Bring Doha-specific cultural insights and participant-experience considerations into broader planning with the human-subjects research team.
- Help establish the WHOOP Labs Doha presence and represent WHOOP across the GCC.
- Report to the Director of Human Subjects Research.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a subject connected to human-subjects research, such as psychology, neuroscience, exercise physiology, or consumer science.
- At least 5 years of full-time experience in a related professional area.
- At least 2 years of experience successfully leading a team with diverse skill sets.
- Prior experience on a distributed international team is preferred.
- Strong understanding of Doha’s local culture and the ability to explain localization needs for research.
- Knowledge of human-subjects research standards, including IRB approval processes, research ethics, data privacy, and consent.
- Proven project management ability, including managing resources, timelines, and risks.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong planning and organization skills, along with flexibility when priorities or challenges change.
- Good networking and collaboration skills, with experience building partnerships and working with external stakeholders.
- Ability to present research findings and communicate effectively with company leadership.
- Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-energy startup environment.
- Understanding of branding and marketing in an industry research setting.
- Fluency in spoken and written English, which is the company’s working language.
