Job description
Role Overview
The Assistant Product Manager will join the Airside division within Engineering and R&D, focusing on the design and development of Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Fan Coil Units (FCUs). The position covers concept creation, component evaluation, prototyping, testing, optimization, value engineering, documentation, compliance, market study, and cost and schedule control. There is also a software development element within the product development process.
What You Will Work On
- Create and refine product concepts for AHUs and FCUs.
- Carry out design studies and engineering analysis for HVAC equipment performance.
- Evaluate key components such as fans, heat exchangers, filters, ducts, and coils.
- Support prototype build, testing, and assessment of results.
- Improve product design through value engineering and continuous enhancement.
- Prepare technical documents, including catalogues, manuals, assembly guides, technical data, and operating instructions.
- Work closely with manufacturing, procurement, quality, sales, and marketing teams.
- Study market trends, customer expectations, and competitor offerings to keep products competitive.
- Support product certification for regional and international standards.
- Assist with software development, component specification, material planning, BOQ review, and cost control.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 7 years of experience in product development within the HVAC equipment industry, especially with AHUs and FCUs.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and their core components, including fans, coils, ducts, filters, and related controls.
- Hands-on experience with prototype development and product testing.
- Good understanding of HVAC performance standards, energy efficiency requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to choose and combine components to improve airflow, temperature control, noise levels, and energy performance.
- Knowledge of material selection for HVAC products, including galvanized steel, aluminum, copper, and stainless steel.
- Ability to assess thermal, mechanical, and airflow performance through design analysis and simulation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing constraints, cost optimization, and product certification processes.
QHSE and Workplace Standards
- Follow ISO 9001 quality practices, ISO 45001 health and safety rules, and ISO 14001 environmental procedures.
- Contribute to department goals and key performance indicators.
- Ensure suppliers and contractors also meet required QHSE expectations.
- Understand how manufacturing activities affect product quality and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain personal and team safety at all times.
- Know the emergency response steps and evacuation paths.
- Report accidents, hazards, and unsafe conditions without delay.
