Job description

Role Overview

The Assistant Manager - Technology Procurement will oversee the complete procurement process specifically for technology-related goods and services. This position involves engaging with internal teams to identify IT procurement needs, conducting supplier negotiations, ensuring adherence to procurement standards, and achieving cost-efficient commercial agreements that align with the company's business goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee procurement processes for IT hardware, software, cloud platforms, telecommunications, and professional IT services end-to-end.
  • Engage closely with business units to gather procurement requirements and formulate strategic sourcing plans.
  • Develop and administer Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), Requests for Quotation (RFQ), assess bids, and conduct supplier selection.
  • Lead vendor negotiations securing competitive pricing and optimal contractual terms.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Finance, and other departments to review and finalize contracts.
  • Establish and nurture strong partnerships with key technology suppliers and vendors.
  • Monitor vendor performance ensuring alignment with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and contractual terms.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving measures, value enhancements, and streamline procurement workflows.
  • Ensure all procurement activities comply with internal policies, governance frameworks, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist with budgeting, analyze spending trends, produce procurement-related reports, and conduct market benchmarking.
  • Coordinate with Finance to manage purchase orders, resolve invoice discrepancies, and track budgets.
  • Stay updated on emerging technology market trends, software licensing structures, and innovative supplier offerings.

Candidate Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Information Technology, or related disciplines.
  • Between four to five years of professional experience in technology procurement, including strategic sourcing or IT vendor relationship management.
  • Prior experience procuring software, hardware, cloud services, SaaS, cybersecurity solutions, and IT professional services.
  • Comprehensive understanding of procurement methods, contract administration, and industry sourcing principles.
  • Expertise in managing RFP/RFQ processes and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Good grasp of software licensing frameworks and cloud technology procurement.
  • Strong skills in data analysis, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation capabilities.
  • Familiarity with ERP or procurement software such as SAP Ariba, Oracle, or Coupa is highly desirable.
  • Relevant professional certifications, including CIPS, CPSM, or CSCP, would be beneficial.
