Assistant Manager - Operations Shipping Agency

Role summary

This position supports shipping agency operations in Qatar, working onsite within port services. The role focuses on keeping operational activity on track, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders, and helping ensure shipping documentation and regulatory processes are handled correctly on behalf of shipping lines and ship operators.

Internal communication

The role works closely with the Manager - Shipping Agency and Port Services teams. The purpose of this coordination is to keep the manager updated on the status of work under the role holder's control and to align operational activities, including stevedoring services and related work dependencies.

External communication

This position interfaces with shipping lines, ship operators, and official authorities. The role includes representing shipping lines and ship operators during preparation of shipping documents, managing regulatory processing, and coordinating operational matters for agency shipping lines.

Occupational health, safety and environment

The role carries accountability for helping maintain a safe workplace, safe working methods, safe equipment, and proper information and training. It also includes responsibility for personal safety and the safety of all personnel under the role holder's authority, including others who may be affected by company activities.

Safety responsibilities

• Carry out risk assessments for departmental activities and ensure safe methods and systems of work are implemented.
• Confirm that all employees and contractors under control are competent to perform their duties.
• Make sure accidents, incidents, and near misses are reported and investigated.
• Encourage strong safety behaviour and lead by example in all health and safety matters.

Authority

Managers and supervisors have the authority to stop work whenever health and safety is unsafe or at risk of being compromised.
