Job description

Role Overview

We are seeking an Assistant Manager for Operations & Maintenance to lead electrical maintenance activities focused on the Boiler, Turbine, Generator (BTG) and associated electrical systems to ensure consistent operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical maintenance and strategic execution for BTG and related areas including HT/LT switchgears, service transformers, and lifts.
  • Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and System Maintenance Plans (SMPs) aligned to current best practices for electrical systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects and ensure preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance is executed to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Coordinate annual and major overhauls (AOH, COH), managing safe, timely, cost-effective completion using allocated manpower.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures, perform root cause failure analysis, and implement measures to enhance system reliability.
  • Monitor performance and compliance of business associates, manage billing certifications, and enforce contractual obligations.
  • Track and complete maintenance schedules including Preventive Maintenance (PM), Corrective Maintenance (CM), and condition-based monitoring.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and systems as per leadership directives.
  • Support repair and refurbishment operations maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Manage maintenance tracking, spare parts inventory, and ensure SAP notification closures.
  • Identify and execute system upgrade initiatives using innovative and best practice approaches.
  • Execute and oversee testing of electrical equipment linked to BTG and related areas.
  • Assist in managing spare parts inventory, develop key indigenous spares, and drive procurement activities including PR creation and coordination with techno-commercial teams to conclude contracts.
  • Oversee preparation and tracking of Service Entry Sheets (SES) for service completions and payment processing.
  • Enforce compliance with Integrated Management Systems (IMS), AWMS, DISHA, ABEM, and CHETNA guidelines.
  • Maintain adherence to statutory and legal requirements including electrical licensing and certification for elevators.
  • Implement safety measures to mitigate hazards, conduct mock drills, and promote training for personnel safety and equipment protection.
  • Champion digital transformation and automation initiatives to streamline operations aligned with organizational strategy.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal departments, service units, and external contractors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical maintenance within power distribution settings.
  • Preferred experience in power generation, transmission, or distribution sectors, with specialization in HT/LT Switchgears and service transformers.
