Assistant Manager - Material & Production Planning

Role Overview

Larsen & Toubro is hiring an Assistant Manager for Material and Production Planning in Coimbatore South, Tamil Nadu. The role focuses on aligning production plans with demand, keeping materials available, and ensuring smooth shop-floor execution with accurate planning and system discipline.

Production Planning and Scheduling

Create day-wise and week-wise production schedules using customer demand and the capacity available across the plant.

MRP and Work Order Release

Execute MRP runs, raise purchase requirements, and issue work orders promptly so production can proceed without avoidable delays.

Capacity and Line Loading

Optimize loading across SMT lines, assembly, testing, and manpower so output targets are achieved efficiently.

Material Availability Control

Make sure all required materials are ready before the line starts to prevent stoppages during production.

Inventory and Stores Management

Keep tight control over raw material, work-in-progress, and finished goods inventories to prevent shortages, excess stock, and obsolescence. Oversee inward inspection coordination, storage practices based on FIFO/FEFO, binning, and traceability requirements.

Shortage Tracking and Risk Handling

Review daily material shortages and work with procurement teams to fast-track critical components and reduce production risks.

Dispatch, Delivery, and System Compliance

Support timely dispatches in line with committed delivery dates and maintain accurate ERP/MES entries, including goods receipt notes, material issues, returns, and stock reconciliation.

Continuous Improvement and KPI Tracking

Track key metrics such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and plan-versus-actual performance, then drive improvements that reduce lead time and waste.
