About the Role
The role of Assistant Manager - Electrical involves the planning, supervision, and execution of electrical construction activities at the PETCHEM site and associated off-site locations. You will ensure that electrical systems are installed, tested, and commissioned efficiently, while providing technical guidance and maintaining rigorous safety and compliance standards. Collaboration across multiple departments and managing contractors will be central to achieving project objectives and high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct execution and coordination of on-site electrical tasks such as cable laying, substation installations, and adherence to project timelines.
- Supervise contractor activities to uphold quality and schedule commitments.
- Plan and coordinate electrical projects, focusing on infrastructure design for power generation, distribution lines, and substations.
- Develop and review technical documents: load lists, schematics, single-line diagrams, and cable schedules.
- Execute power system analyses (e.g., short circuit, motor starting, harmonics) using specialized software like ETAP.
- Perform calculations for equipment and cable sizing, grounding, lighting, UPS, and perform studies related to insulation and transients.
- Ensure strict compliance with IPC guidelines, statutory requirements, and internal quality and safety standards.
- Evaluate quality of electrical materials and contract billings to verify project compliance.
- Identify risks in electrical job scopes and suggest and document changes appropriately.
- Support and guide team members and contractors in executing their responsibilities effectively.
- Work closely with technical teams to provide essential site inputs for electrical design and implementation.
- Facilitate commissioning processes, coordinate start-up activities, and oversee the handover of completed systems to the client.
Additional Information: Stakeholder Engagement
- Work collaboratively with internal departments including Mechanical, Civil, Instrumentation, Planning, Procurement, QA/QC, and HSE teams.
- Liaise with external stakeholders such as suppliers, vendors, independent inspectors, contractors, and equipment manufacturers.
Technical Competencies
- Auditing and reporting on electrical quality and compliance at PETCHEM projects.
- Managing construction risks specific to electrical systems.
- Expertise in electrical construction management.
- Understanding of legal and regulatory standards for electrical installations.
