Job description
Position Summary
The Assistant Executive Housekeeper plays a vital role in supporting the Executive Housekeeper by managing all Housekeeping and Laundry functions, ensuring exceptional cleanliness, presentation, and guest comfort throughout the hotel. This position contributes significantly to operational efficiency, overseeing team performance, and delivering outstanding guest experiences while upholding brand standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in supervising daily Housekeeping and Laundry activities.
- Ensure impeccable standards in guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.
- Maintain a visible presence within housekeeping operations to uphold service quality.
- Act as deputy for the Executive Housekeeper during their absence.
- Collaborate with other departments to support overall hotel functionality.
- Participate in pre-opening preparations including concept development, recruitment, training, and operational setup.
- Lead and support the Housekeeping team through supervision, recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance monitoring.
- Promote a collaborative culture emphasizing accountability and excellent service by conducting briefings and shift handovers.
- Ensure guest rooms meet expected standards prior to guest arrival and promptly handle guest feedback or service recovery related to housekeeping.
- Work closely with Front Office and other departments to exceed guest expectations.
- Assist in managing departmental budget, controlling costs, monitoring inventory and usage of linens and supplies, and optimizing staff scheduling.
- Maintain consistent high standards through routine inspections and adherence to housekeeping policies and procedures.
- Support continuous training initiatives to enhance team skills and knowledge about brand expectations.
- Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, hygiene, and security regulations, including proper handling of chemicals and equipment.
- Uphold a professional demeanor representing the hotel positively in all interactions.
- Exemplify leadership qualities, strong organization, effective communication, detail orientation, accountability, and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or related discipline.
- 4 to 6 years of experience in housekeeping operations with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Comprehensive knowledge of housekeeping standards, procedures, and operational practices.
- Previous experience within hotels or upscale hospitality environments preferred.
- Strong leadership skills and capability to manage and motivate teams.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of health, safety, and hygiene standards in housekeeping.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, detail-focused environment.
