Assistant Accountant - FMCG

Role overview

This position is for an accounting professional who can handle core finance operations within an FMCG environment, with a focus on payable and receivable work, reconciliations, reporting, and accounting processes tied to retail and manufacturing activities.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Carry out bank reconciliations and manage day-to-day cash movements.
• Assist with month-end closure tasks and prepare journal entries.
• Compile MIS reports and conduct financial analysis as required.
• Track general ledger balances and overhead-related expenses.
• Handle petty cash records and monitor employee expense claims.
• Support inventory checks and stock reconciliation exercises.
• Contribute to statutory audit work and compliance-related requirements.
• Match retail sales records with POS transaction data and resolve variances.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• At least 5 years of accounting experience is needed.
• Prior exposure to the FMCG sector is preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of ERP systems is expected, particularly Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics, and Zeroh.
• Advanced Excel capability is important, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis.
• Experience with month-end closing and financial reporting is necessary.
• Familiarity with POS systems and retail accounting will be considered an added advantage.
