Role overview

The University of Waikato is seeking an Asset Information Officer to support smart asset management through accurate and well-maintained property data. In this fixed-term role, you will help ensure the University’s buildings and infrastructure records are reliable, current, and useful for planning, compliance, maintenance scheduling, and informed decision-making.

You will be part of the Facilities Services team and work closely with internal stakeholders to strengthen data quality, improve systems and processes, and support better asset management and service delivery.

Key details

  • Fixed-term appointment for 12 months.
  • Based on the Hamilton Campus.
  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • Salary range: $73,235 to $87,024 per year, depending on the skills, knowledge, and experience you bring to the role.
  • Benefits include subsidised parking and a discounted gym membership.

What the role involves

In this position, you will be responsible for keeping asset records in Maximo complete and accurate so they can support maintenance planning, reporting, and day-to-day operational needs. The role also involves working with stakeholders across the University to improve data standards, strengthen record integrity, and contribute to ongoing service improvements.

About the team and organisation

Facilities Services looks after the University’s corporate estates portfolio, including campus development, commercial leasing, facilities, security, and support services such as grounds maintenance, portering, and cleaning. The University of Waikato is committed to a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive environment where staff contributions are valued and diversity is welcomed.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable working with data-heavy processes. You should have experience in asset management, facilities, or information management, and be able to maintain accurate records across a varied property portfolio. Strong organisation, methodical working habits, and the ability to balance competing priorities are essential. A proactive approach to identifying issues, improving processes, and strengthening reporting will help you succeed in this role.
