Role overview
This is a full-time, on-site position for an Area Sales Manager based in Chennai. The role focuses on driving sales growth through prospecting, lead creation, product demos, negotiations, and long-term customer relationship building. Success in this position depends on strong communication and people skills, plus the ability to consistently achieve sales goals and support overall business expansion.
What you will do
- Handle both primary and secondary sales activities.
- Prepare work plans, schedules, and call routines.
- Create and implement an effective customer outreach plan.
- Develop strong working relationships with healthcare partners and customers.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Build strategies to approach prospective customers and improve sales performance.
- Contact healthcare professionals by phone to arrange appointments.
- Provide samples to authorized practitioners.
- Share product and service information with healthcare professionals, distributors, and channel partners.
- Demonstrate product usage and respond to customer questions.
- Plan and conduct sales presentations.
- Receive sales orders from customers.
- Coordinate group meetings, events, and conferences for healthcare professionals, dealers, distributors, and channel partners.
- Maintain accurate records of meetings, contacts, and activities, and prepare reports as required.
- Stay updated on clinical data and present relevant information to healthcare professionals.
- Track the activities of healthcare professionals and organizations in the assigned territory.
- Keep up with competitor products, services, and market activity.
- Build effective relationships with internal support teams.
- Deliver after-sales support when needed.
- Perform strongly in B2B sales environments.
Experience and background
The role calls for a solid understanding of health sciences, especially medical devices and equipment such as wheelchairs and oxygen cylinders. Prior experience selling medical devices and equipment is expected. A proven track record of promoting and selling products/services will be valuable. In some situations, candidates with a healthcare background, such as nursing, may also be considered. The company provides on-the-job training, and strong product knowledge is important.
