Role overview
This role is responsible for overseeing the performance of multiple stores and driving the key business metrics that measure store success. The position focuses on sales growth, operational discipline, team development, customer service, and brand presentation across assigned locations.
Core purpose
The Area Sales Manager is expected to ensure strong retail execution by building capable store teams, maintaining high service standards, and supporting each store in reaching its sales and profitability goals.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the performance of several stores and work toward quantitative targets such as units per transaction, average transaction value, monthly sales, sales per square foot, sales turnover, shrinkage reduction, and conversion improvement.
- Set store-level sales targets that support stronger revenue and profitability outcomes.
- Plan and conduct regular staff meetings to keep teams aligned and informed.
- Strengthen customer service standards consistently across all assigned stores.
- Ensure compliance with company SOPs, policies, procedures, and loss-prevention audit requirements, and put controls in place so employees follow them.
- Confirm that visual merchandising standards are properly executed and maintained at all times.
- Track inventory movement and monitor store stock flow.
- Recruit, train, and develop staff in sales skills, customer handling, teamwork, and brand-specific etiquette.
- Review employee performance annually and encourage open communication through coaching, feedback, and motivation.
- Make operational and visual merchandising decisions based on the needs of the store and its customers.
- Share updates on business drivers, merchandise issues, quality concerns, and other relevant operational matters.
