Role overview

This position is for an Area Manager based in Patna, Bihar. The role focuses on driving branch-level sales growth, expanding the advisor and front-line sales network, improving productivity, and strengthening compliance and execution across the area.

Key responsibilities

  • Support branch managers in sourcing and hiring strong manpower for business expansion.
  • Guide branch managers in recruiting front-line sales professionals and insurance advisors.
  • Drive an aggressive distribution-building plan to bring in productive agents from a competitive market and improve market reach.
  • Track planned team capacity against the actual manpower deployed on board.
  • Help assess candidate profiles for advisor hiring.
  • Set monthly, quarterly, and annual goals for individuals and teams.
  • Develop sales plans by studying branch performance and assigning focus areas to improve overall results.
  • Design regional engagement initiatives that keep activity and delivery levels high.
  • Run regular review meetings to monitor key business drivers and make corrective changes when needed.
  • Review progress of the front-line sales team against assigned goal sheets.
  • Ensure disciplined daily execution of the sales process through planning and review.
  • Push sales progression across the region by reviewing performance and motivating the team to raise standards.
  • Promote activities that maximize incentive earners at both front-line sales and branch manager levels.
  • Work with the training team to identify training needs and ensure timely training for agency managers.
  • Assess advisor training needs and coordinate timely preparation of training programs.
  • Support branch manager development through collaboration with the sales training team.
  • Meet top advisors across the branches/area on a regular basis and maintain strong relationships with high performers and club members.
  • Coach, motivate, and develop the sales force to add value to the business.
  • Improve premium outcomes through analysis of product mix and performance.
  • Support profitability by implementing cost-optimization measures introduced by the Regional Manager or higher leadership.
  • Ensure delivery of a strong customer value proposition by creating an enabling framework for the area sales force.
  • Make sure all business activities follow company compliance and regulatory standards.
  • Establish checks and controls to maintain business quality.
  • Take immediate corrective action when malpractice is identified.
  • Gather market intelligence and identify promising market opportunities.
  • Create strategies to enter and develop untapped markets.
  • Recruit advisors in locations with unrealized potential.
  • Strengthen brand visibility in less-developed areas to support future growth.
  • Coordinate with training, underwriting, client services, HR, compliance, planning, and finance teams to align expectations and requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments to secure sales support and resolve escalations.
  • Build team capability through continuous on-the-job learning.
  • Coach team members and help them grow into stronger performers.
  • Develop a second line of leaders within the sales team.
