Role overview
J.P. Morgan is seeking an Analyst or Associate to join its Equity Capital Markets (ECM) team in Australia. In this role, you will contribute to the end-to-end execution of equity financing transactions, support the team’s growth agenda, and help strengthen the firm’s capital raising franchise. The position offers structured training, practical learning, ongoing mentoring, and regular feedback. You will work closely with a large regional analyst and associate community on live transactions, which may involve frequent travel.
What you will do
- Support the execution of public capital raising deals for corporate clients, including IPOs and follow-on issues.
- Help senior bankers prepare for client meetings, presentations, and proposal responses.
- Coordinate with internal partners such as industry coverage, sales and trading, syndicate, equity research, and legal teams.
- Draft market commentary and analytical pieces focused on equity capital markets and the technology sector.
- Carry out analysis for issuer clients, including precedent transaction work and shareholder targeting.
- Prepare presentation decks and internal approval memorandums before transactions launch.
What the role asks for
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- At least 1 year of relevant investment banking experience in a coverage or ECM position.
- Strong skills in accounting, finance, quantitative analysis, and business writing.
- Working knowledge of capital markets and how ECM transactions are executed.
- Excellent communication abilities and confidence engaging with senior stakeholders, clients, and cross-functional teams.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
- A self-starter mindset with the ability to work independently, stay accurate, and manage several live projects at once.
