About the organization

The Ontario HIV Treatment Network (OHTN) is a nonprofit established in 1998 with a mission to improve the health and wellbeing of people living with HIV and those at risk of HIV. It uses data and evidence to support positive change, working alongside testing programs and clinics, AIDS service and community-based organizations, and policy and system leaders in and beyond the health sector to advance Ontario’s HIV strategy.

About the role

The OHTN Cohort Study (OCS) follows about 4,500 people living with HIV across Ontario and gathers socio-demographic, clinical, and psychosocial information from multiple sources to help improve health and social outcomes in the province. The Analyst, Health Data is a permanent full-time individual contributor role reporting to the Director, OCS. The role focuses on making sure OCS data is accurate, dependable, and valid through strong data processing and quality assurance practices.

Key responsibilities

This position supports data acquisition, questionnaire management, data quality assurance, and selective data analysis. The work centers on the OCS Data Administration Portal (ODAP), the OCS questionnaire, and related data systems.

Data acquisition and processing

  • Build and keep current data dictionaries, data maps, and documentation describing what data are available.
  • Translate questionnaire content into online formats, including variables, response choices, skip patterns, and version tracking.
  • Collect feedback from participating sites about wording, formatting, layout, accessibility, and cultural suitability of data collection tools.
  • Help coordinate the annual questionnaire revision cycle.
  • Test the OCS questionnaire and ODAP regularly with sites, internal staff, and scientific partners.
  • Work with sites to make sure electronic medical record data are formatted consistently and align with OCS systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and revise manuals and standard operating procedures for data collection sources such as questionnaires, clinical chart abstraction, EMR data, and sub-study data, and support regular training for sites.

Data quality assurance

  • Create and maintain records describing data sources and quality assurance methods.
  • Put in place structured approaches to normalize and standardize incoming data.
  • Perform routine data cleaning and quality checks on questionnaire and clinical datasets with the research team.
  • Support quality assurance work needed for data management and warehouse operations.

Data analysis support

  • Prepare data extracts and summaries for researchers and other data users.
  • Assist with data analysis and statistical work for reports, conferences, and academic publications.
  • Provide additional support to the OCS team as needed.

Compensation and workplace details

This is a Grade 2 position with a salary band of $58,978.07 to $72,535.59. The role is based at 1300 Yonge Street in Toronto, Ontario, and follows a hybrid work arrangement. It is an existing position within OPSEU Local 5120 and reports directly to the Director, OCS.
