Role Overview
We are looking for a talented Analyst to support the Credit Risk team. In this role, your work will focus on portfolio analytics, ensuring data quality, conducting ad-hoc analyses, and preparing reports related to retail lending. You will play a vital role in assessing credit portfolios to provide insights that influence key decision-making.
The Analyst reports directly to the Director of Credit Risk Management and contributes to the broader oversight of credit risk across the bank.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze credit card loan portfolios to identify patterns and trends, producing reports for senior management and quarterly management reviews.
- Participate in developing and deploying strategic credit risk initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-departmental teams to deliver analytical insights that support business decisions.
- Create and present data reports utilizing SQL, Python, Power BI, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Engage with credit risk leaders to monitor product lifecycle performance, including acquisition, portfolio management, collections, and fraud control.
- Assist with forecasting credit and fraud losses by tracking emerging risk trends.
- Conduct quality assurance to verify completeness and accuracy of financial, credit, and corporate records, ensuring data integrity.
- Document findings from QA reviews, flagging potential fraud or new risk areas and supporting frontline response teams.
- Prepare monthly reports that assess credit quality and compliance with the bank's risk appetite, supporting governance of credit risk policies.
Candidate Profile
- At least one year of experience in financial services.
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, economics, business administration, or finance.
- Familiarity with the banking industry and credit risk management lifecycle, including mortgages and related products.
- 1-2 years' background in business or data analysis, reporting, or visualization, including co-op or project work.
- Advanced skills in Python, SQL, Power BI, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong analytical and detail-oriented mindset with the ability to interpret complex datasets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capacity to excel in a fast-moving, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements associated with credit risk management.
